January 2014

We didn't do a whole lot this month,
but still managed to keep busy despite the lack of pictures we took.
Kalia's eating big girl food now instead of all that pureed stuff...
like carrots...
and avocado...
and mixed veggies!

I've been busy at school too. We're learning about winter, snowflakes, the north & south poles, penguins and polar bears!
Dad & Mom had to put a barricade up around the fireplace so Kalia wouldn't crawl on it & get hurt. Somehow, she still manages to get through...
There were a few nice days in the month...
We FINALLY managed to get the to zoo and see the new penguins. It was so fun! We saw other animals too...like this guy from Madagascar!
I also FINALLY got to ride my new bike that I got from my birthday! Dad took me to his school to ride on the flat playground area.

Kalia LOVES her bath time!! Mommy likes that she doesn't splash that much anymore...instead, she LOVES to hold on to these little doggies that she got for xmas.
Mommy came home to this one night while Dad was cooking dinner.

Kalia - 10 Months

It's SO hard to believe that in 2 short months this little princess will be one year old! My, where does the time go? Kalia's keeping us on our toes more than ever these days. She's mastered the art of crawling and is really quite fast. She loves it when you chase her! She's also gotten quite good at standing on her own - with NO support. We like to back up when she's standing to see if she'll take some steps. Every now and then she'll attempt it and take one but always falls on the second. She's figured us out now and when we back away, she immediately just falls to the ground and crawls. She's smart and knows that's much easier & quicker!

She's also eating quite good - there hasn't been anything turned away yet! It helps that her bottom 2 teeth have FINALLY broke through too! She loves baby yogurt and cheese puffs and has been eating a lot of diced veggies. She gobbles them up like cookie monster! We like that it's a little more convenient for us - the other night we made turkey & mashed potatoes and she ate both! Now if we can only get Beckett to eat like this. We're hoping that if he sees her eating these things that he'll follow along (not working yet). We've also been teaching some sign language to Kalia. She's getting good at doing 'more'. She can also sign 'all done' but we don't think she quite understands what it means yet.
Daddy introduced Kalia to ice cream over winter break.
He may have created a monster.

She loves to wave and will clap with you. She's also getting quite into dancing. Every time she hears music, she'll start moving her body, especially when sitting in her exersaucer. She LOVES her baths. She likes playing with the plastic animals and making sounds, mostly "quack, quack, quack". Her most favorite part is splashing. It's not always fun to clean it up, but it's sure fun watching her enjoy it!
Beckett & Kalia are getting quite good at playing together. Lately, Beckett will play with his cars on the floor and she'll take one of the cars and push it around like him. I need to get a video of this - it's really cute! They also have been rolling balls to each other. Here's a video:

TOUCHDOWN!
YAY FOR 10 MONTHS!

December 2013

The gate was put up at the top of the stairs and Kalia found a new freedom! She was moving everywhere and was so fast!!

Kalia liked to look down at the tree
Kalia was so curious about the tree. Mom & Dad were smart enough to not put any ornaments on the bottom 2 feet of the tree. Kalia curiously touched the branches, but by the end of the month she got a little more brave and started pulling the strands of lights!
I love to put this new puzzle together. It was a gift at my birthday party.
Rudolph became my best bud this month and I carried him almost everywhere. I also LOVED watching Rudolph on TV (seen below - eyes glued to the TV) and reading his book.
Mommy can't pass up taking pics of sleeping kiddos!
And there's Rudolph again!
I also learned to sing Jingle Bells. I became quite good and Daddy & I even put our own spin on it (not in the video below).

Christmas Break

Gramma & Papa on the farm had a small birthday celebration for me. Great Gramma Ryan came out and we had a turkey dinner. Mom made me a red velvet poke cake with oreos on top that I picked out. It was a good time!
Aunt Molly & I made colorful paper chains to decorate for my party. The little girls liked playing with them too!

The holiday week started out ok, but then got a little rough. I had a little cold on my birthday. My cough got worse and Kalia was running a temp so Mom & Dad took us to the doctor on Monday. They didn't find anything else wrong with Kalia, but I was diagnosed with bronchitis. I got some meds and went back to Gramma & Papa's to rest. That night I only got a couple hours sleep as I woke up with my ears just draining fluid and then started bleeding. We believe that I coughed so much or hard that my tubes got pushed out. Mom brought me back to the dr the next day (Xmas Eve) and it was a double ear infection.
After more meds, I slept most of the day so I could open presents that night and enjoy the holiday. Nothing like curling up with a dog to help make you feel better! Especially a dog that let's you lay by him...unlike Sadie. I made a pretty good recovery in 12 hours.
Unfortunately, we didn't make it to church on Christmas Eve. It was WAAAY too cold (wind chill was below zero) to bring sick kiddos outside. We did manage to get a few pics though...

LOOK! Uncle Marc is smiling in the picture and he's not wearing a hat!!!
Sadie got in on the action too!
A helmet to go with my new bike
(that I got from Mom & Dad for my birthday)!

Christmas morning
No, it's not a DVD player.
Santa just likes to wrap things in random boxes.
It's CARS SLIPPERS!
Ready for my bike!
After lunch we traveled to Gramma & Papa's on the Lake in Nebraska.
This is what Uncle Ken & cousin Molly gave me!
Though I'm not sure where my punching bag is now...

Unfortunately, we left Columbus a day early so we could get back & bring Kalia to the dr. She started not feeling well again - temperature, not eating well, and an upper respiratory-thing. Mom brought her to the dr Saturday morning and she also has an ear infection and RSV. Mom said that's not good for babies like Kalia. She also got some medicine and is doing breathing treatments every 2-4 hours. Hopefully that helps my baby sister to get better!

We're all getting a little cabin fever in here (including Daddy)!
